Detox Your Way to Better Health

“Why Detoxify?”

Each and every day, your body comes into contact with a variety of toxins. The food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the things we touch can all pose risks to our health. However, by cleansing ourselves of these toxins, we can better protect our bodies from toxin associated health risks. Cleansing can often mean an overall sense of well being; increasing our energy, and even improving circulation. –Tools For Wellness

Our bodies have always been able to naturally detoxify itself, though with current environmental issues it is becoming increasingly difficult. The introduction of new toxins such as herbicides, pesticides, heavy metals and numerous carcinogens (lead, asbestos, radon and carbon to name a few) has made it even more difficult for our bodies to expel normal waste products; let alone the new environmental factors, also known as free radicals. These are cell damaging agents that are produced by radiation, pollution and bodily waste processes. Changes in both diet and lifestyle can aid in restoring the body’s natural detoxification process, ridding us of harmful free radicals. Incorporating whole body healing exercise like yoga can assist and support the natural detoxification process, as well as, specific foods that aid in the detoxification processes of our organs, assisting us in achieving better health.

Antioxidants are substances that protect us from free radicals by halting the oxidation of such molecules, allowing the detoxification process to be successful. Blueberries, avocados, strawberries and cranberries; granny smith apples; pinto beans; artichokes; and russet potatoes are great antioxidant foods. Beets are known as a super food and also a great antioxidant. Anti-inflammatory foods help detoxification by keeping out body tissues from becoming swollen (inflamed) and allowing the waste to be eliminated more easily instead of being trapped. Whole grains, green tea, sweet potatoes and olive oil are anti inflammatory foods that can assist in the detoxification process.

Tools for wellness has two products that will also aid in a successful detoxification: Detox Foot Pads and The Detox Box. Detox foot pads are herbal pads that are placed on the bottom of the feet, and literally pull toxins such as heavy metals, metabolic waste, parasites, chemicals and cellulite from your body, and into the pad. The Detox Box is an essential detoxification kit that includes a book that tells you why detoxification is important both from medical and scientific standpoints for detoxification; it includes diet, supplement and contemplative activity information; schedules, preparation checklists, shopping lists, detoxification tips; and a beneficial DVD that features 20 minute yoga sessions that supports detoxification.
